Warning/disclaimer: 2 curse words follow. read at your own discretion.

Anxiety
it presses on my chest like a weight.
like I can’t get up. can’t breathe.
This is the Anxiety.
This is what it feels like:
lungs too small, chest too weak, like crying with no tears
and nothing to be sad about.

It feels good–to lose control, to feel subjected
but.
It also feels so horrible.
Why is this happening?
Shit. Right now?
The panic sets in. It changes it.
Thoughts race–
will this ever stop.
mind can’t focus on just one thing:
breathe.
force the air.
words to a poem.
words from a song.

But.

Lungs are still too small.
The weight, the pressure closes in more… more.
Wraps like a blanket
but it’s no friend.

Try to sleep? Impossible.

So fucking lonely in this moment.

To this, there is no resolution.
It comes when it wants to
and leaves just the same.

“…you can put a bird on something and just call it art!”

Well… this is an art-blog after all.

Six Words Sunday! It seems like I was just posting one of these… I guess that’s what happens when you take a break from blogging and then return to doing it like you’re supposed to. 🙂

This week’s prompt is “Novel” and here are just six words about it because I’m distracted and my brain is tired and six words are about all I can manage. Nonetheless, enjoy!

Novel

Waiting to be written, pages unfilled.

Heart Tangles

My heart is in tangles, can you rearrange it?
Rip out the thorns if you dare
and splinter my body with pieces of this
let the blood inside of me drown it.

Don’t patch up the holes, whatever you do
let my blood spill out onto the floor.
If it puddles and pools, if the darkness comes quick,
hope to God the red stains don’t confine it.

I want those scars, those marks on me
where the heart-tangled-thorns took their toll.
They remind me of nightmares, of pain and of life,
I touch them when I can’t feel at all.

It’s Feature Artist Friday! Only problem is that no one submitted anything this Friday. So I decided in lieu of a Featured Artist, I will have a Funny Friday. I’m sure we all could use a laugh and here is one I’ve chosen from one of my favorite TV shows, “Modern Family.” Watch, laugh, enjoy, and come back tomorrow for something new!

It’s Throwback Thursday! Also, it’s the 7th day in a row I’ve posted–woot–blog is looking to be on at least a bit of a track again.

Today I share a poem from February of 2006. Something more melancholy to match the gray Michigan day outside.

——

Drenched

A single tear dripped down her face
A tiny spot upon the page
The memories she can’t erase
Hold her captive- here in place.

She wonders now how things would differ
If ever they were right
Could she have given anything
To sacrifice this pain tonight?

No answers come to free her
Alone she still must sit
For though her grace may heal her
No pain can she omit.

The tear upon the page then stains
Those words all written down,
Though this not be last tear shed
It makes no difference all the same.

For pain she holds inside her
Never showing its true self
And all it does is dwell inside
Gathering dust upon a shelf.

Winter Sun

February 15, 2011

At daybreak:

Lick your wounds and stand up

like a pheonix from the ashes–arise,

carry on with purpose.

On the cusp of something greater

mourn not for losses suffered.

Look to the future, see the possibilities.

Though time is counted in tears shed,

in breaths held,

know the horizon will be bright.

At daybreak:

know the horizon will be bright.

Happy February 14th!

Whether you choose to view the day as a Hallmark Holiday or whether you want to take today to tell special people in your life you love them, it’s all good to me!

I want to post today from my new phone app I downloaded for my Blackberry. We’ll see if it actually works out.

So… I’m trying to post something in the last ten minutes of the day so really this is a test of how fast can I type on my phone keyboard. Lol.

Okay: I really don’t have anything to post today besides this but I have been doing SO good with posting (and I think this is my 5th day in a row–go me!) that I didn’t want to mess up my streak.

Well, enjoy the last 6 minutes of February 14th EST and the last 3 hours and 6 min of the day PST! Check in tomorrow!

PS I love you all for reading my blog! You are loved! Yay!

Six Words Sunday!

This week’s prompt/theme is “seconds.” So, as per usual (well, back in the day, when I was actively posting “usual”), I wrote a poem. 6 lines, 6 words per line. Yay! 🙂

——

Seconds

Seconds tick like tiny time bombs

they tock, talk like tiny mouths.

Tick away like little tally marks

on walls and beats of hearts.

In moments we might hear them

but just as quickly, they’re gone.
