Hello (again) World!

Hi all you blog-goers out there… it has been far too long since I’ve written to you. FAR too long… I know. Please take into consideration my life as of the past few months:

  • the end of my undergrad education
  • graduation
  • finding a place to live in Boston
  • packing, storing, moving
  • finalizing things for my internship
  • starting my internship! and…
  • life.

Yes, this life has been a busy one, but I am loving it. I can’t say that I am loving every second of it, because I won’t lie… some seconds are hard ones. Some seconds last for minutes or even days… but I find a way to get through them to get to the parts that re-energize me, and keep me going for when I do get to those harder moments.

So… This blog has previously been used as a creative outlet for myself, where I’ve posted short stories, poems, photography and whatever else creative I’ve discovered I want to post. I’ve also implemented a few different “Themed Days” (some of which have stuck better than others, although since this whole blog has kind of gone un-sticky for the past few months, I guess everything is kind of in the same place–tangent! (if that didn’t make sense, just disregard and keep reading)).

ANYWAY! There are a lot of people who I feel like I want to keep updated on my life/internship/adventures in Boston, and yet it is SO hard to keep in contact with EVERYONE all at once. So I decided that it would be nice to have an email list or a blog or something that everyone could read. Well, as it turns out, I already have a blog! Perfect.

Bottom line is this: I am going to be making a new branch of my meghan619 blog-name in order to talk about how I feel with life and my internship and whatever else, and to keep you all updated on my life and my internship and whatever else. It will be strictly non-fiction and always written with you in mind. 🙂

Please visit it! It can be found at lifeofmeghan.wordpress.com and you should definitely check it out, and subscribe. It’s super easy and it can send you emails when I update (so you don’t have to worry about remembering to check in ;))

To subscribe just go to the top of the page where it says “Email Subscription” and select “sign me up” it’s THAT easy. While you’re at it, subscribe to this blog (meghan619.wordpress.com) at the same time!

Now, head on over to lifeofmeghan.wordpress.com… if it’s not up and running yet, it will be soon!

I love you all, and I thank you all for your support.

Woah dang.. blog hiatus. oops.

I guess it’s technically Feature Artist Friday but, no one to feature. So instead, here is something I made on Thursday. It is kind of a picture but I guess it’s not really photography and more just art I suppose. Anyway, enjoy!

No submissions again this week… Readers: Lend me your submissions!

So… today I’m sharing a picture that amuses me. Hope you find it even slightly amusing as well. 🙂

Throwback Thursday!

Something different this week–A photo!

This one was taken during my Freshman year of college when I was attending school in Portland, Oregon. It was actually published in a writer’s anthology magazine for my university in Spring of 2008 where they also took black and white photo submissions. This photo took Editor’s Choice Award for Best Photograph, for which I received a $10 gift card to Powell’s Books. 😛

But almost more important, this experience subsequently became the first time I thought that other people might think photos I took were good.

This photo was I taken in downtown Portland in Pioneer Courthouse Square and I hope you enjoy it.

Rainy Tuesday

This photograph was taken with a Cannon A1 35mm film camera and was printed by me. This is a scan of the original.

You

We lay next to each other on our sides
arms curled into ourselves
knees pulled up to our chests
we mirror each other.

I see myself reflected in your eyes,
you blink, and for a moment I’m gone.
Your eyes reopen after a single heartbeat
and I’m there again.

Can you see yourself reflected in mine?

I want to see myself how you see me.
To know how I can be so strong for you,
to understand what you understand about me–
the things that I don’t understand about myself.

Can you see yourself the way I see you?

Do you know how I look up to you?
All the ways I respect and value you?
How I find your mind brilliant and fascinating
like an intricate piece of music, deep and layered.

We stare. We don’t move. We don’t speak.
I watch myself disappear, reappear, disappear…
I wonder who I am to you, what I look like.
Eyes so deep–I might get lost in them.

Moments stretch for days but we don’t look away.
Unsaid words are somehow understood,
unarticulated thoughts–unraveled.
We become aware of the other.

You wipe a tear from my eye and I blink.
You disappear. Reappear again.
Hearts beating in unison for only a moment–
we mirror one another.

Oh noes! I missed a day! But it was for good reason. I was at a poetry and book reading by Staceyann Chin. She is amazing and brilliant and if you don’t know who she is, you totally need to find out! Look her up on youtube or facebook or wikipedia or anywhere on the interwebs where you kids learn your information these days, I’m sure you will find something!

So, I was out enjoying someone else’s creative endeavor instead of investing time in my own. There are worse things in the world.

Today is Six Words Sunday! The prompt this week was “Well” and here are some (6) words on that topic.

——–

Well

Well then, a crossing point now

where roads diverge and never return

to the same place once at.

Well then, a turning point here

where we become someone new and

someone whole and someone better equipt

to handle the things like this.

We reach a spot in life

Where we are (all) is well.

It’s Feature Artist Friday!

Again, no one has submitted any works of fiction, poetry, song, dance, paint, or any other form of artistic creativity to be featured this week, so… my pick again.

This week I’m featuring an artist named Pricilla Ahn. I just discovered her music this week and I already absolutely love it. Here is the first song of hers I heard. Maybe it will make you fall in love with her as well. Enjoy!

So today it is technically Throwback Thursday. BUT! More importantly… It’s my mom’s birthday!!

I really could not ask for a better mom. She is so awesome and knows just how to love me and raise me and I don’t know what I would do without her. Mom: I wish you all the best (again) as you continue the birthday celebrations. I wish I could be there to share in the festivities (I love painting rooms… free pizza wouldn’t hurt either ;))!

Happy birthday, Mom!

I LOVE YOU!
